For many years pit bulls have been known as one the most aggressive and dangerous breed of dog to keep in a home. However, Amber Prejean does not think of pit bulls as dangerous in any way. In March of 2012 she started the organization, Cajun Paw, which is an animal shelter that mainly takes in unwanted pit bulls. Desi Comeaux of Lafayette Animal Aid says that pit bulls tend to have bad reputations from media attention and the way they look. Prejean hopes to have land and an area to actually have people working at the shelter in a few years, since as of now she is running the group from her home. Story by Kimberly Bradford.
