Lafayette's Competitive Cajun Cuisine

Janet Hollinshead

There are more than 500 restaurants in Lafayette, and competition is growing intense as the holiday season approaches. Joey's , a Lafayette restaurant, is no stranger to this competition, having catered for the past 30 years, but Joey Beyt, President and CEO, says it is all about not becoming complacent with the customer. He says that business boosts from now until the end of the year, involving many small parties and banquets. He shares the company's secrets to success, which are consistency, good product, and good service. The city of Lafayette, named Best Food City in the United States by USA Today, has competition that even plays out in the press. Joey's received Best Caterer in The Times Best of Acadiana in 2008, 2009, and 2011, and took 2nd place honors for this year's 2012 list.
