Every morning, thousands of Cajun French music lovers tune in to KRVS to start their day with Pete Bergeron and "Bonjour Louisiane." Like morning coffee, "Bonjour Louisiane" gets you up and going with traditional Cajun French favorites and the latest releases from talented newcomers. Brush up on your French, find out about the fairs and festivals, and share the "joie de vivre" of French Louisiana.
Original rock and roll lives on KRVS. While searching for records to play on "Big Band Swings", I've also picked up some interesting 1950s tunes---and just as BBS has become BBS and other things, Old Gold starts out as a big mix of musical genres, with an emphasis on rock, roll, rhythm, and my favorite, novelty!
Thursday's MEDICINE BALL CARAVAN (11am-noon Central Standard on 88.7FM locally or www.krvs.org) begins with 1972 sounds by Electric Light Orchestra and Elton John before moving on to some Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, Arthur Gunter, The Crystals, The Dead Weather, The Doors, Frigg A-Go-Go and Pere Ubu. New Dayna Kurtz and Nick Waterhouse, too !
