Singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham has made the unlikely journey from rodeo circuit rider to Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar winner for the soundtrack to Crazy Heart, a 2009 Jeff Bridges film featuring Bingham's original song "The Weary Kind."
In 2012, Bingham released his fourth studio album, Tomorrowland, on his own label. On this edition of Song Travels, Bingham performs selections from the new album, including "As I Do My Dancing" and "Too Deep to Fill."

After nearly 30 years of prolific genre-avoidance, the indie-rock trio Yo La Tengo returns with Fade,its first studio album in almost four years. The record, the band's 13th full-length release, features "Before We Run," a six-minute piece of orchestral pop showcasing Yo La Tengo's stately side.

Pianist Randy Weston recently returned to Piano Jazz for a new session with host Marian McPartland. Weston got his start playing with Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson and Kenny Dorham in the late 1940s and '50s, and won New Star Pianist in the 1955 Downbeat poll. By the end of that decade, Weston was inspired by the burgeoning civil rights movement in the U.S. and the independence movement among African nations.
